Starting the Tour
This full-day tour starts out at 7 am when your bilingual tour guide picks you up in Playa Jaco and begins the 4-hour trek to La Fortuna, at the base of the Arenal Volcano. After a couple hours of driving, your guide and driver will stop at El Jardin restaurant so that you can stretch your legs and get a bite to eat. After some breakfast and coffee, travel on and up into the cloud forests of La Fortuna, where the magnificent sight of Arenal (5,500 foot, active andesitic stratovolcano) is ever looming above.
Once at the La Fortuna trailhead, you’ll have a half mile hike to get to the one of the most amazing waterfalls in the country! The water is a tad brisk, so consider yourself warned… but jumping in to feel the raw power of the cascading water is incredible!
Hydrotherapy – Rejuvenate Your Body and Mind
After an hour and a half taking in the scenic beauty surrounding the La Fortuna waterfall, it’s time to head over to the hot springs for lunch at one of Tabacon resort’s excellent restaurants!
Relaxing in Tabacon’s thermal springs is second to none. Most hot spring resorts have to drill to get the desired effect. At Tabacon, it is all natural thermal springs that feed into the cooler waters of the river to create warm pools and thermal cascades around the property! There is a total of five different springs, ranging for 77 degrees Fahrenheit to 122 degrees Fahrenheit where you can reap the benefits of bathing in the mineral-rich waters.
At around 5 pm, it will be time to head back. You’ll get to stop for a break again at El Jardin, where you’ll be treated to a delectable Costa Rican dinner. With a full stomach and rejuvenated skin, relax and enjoy the rest of the drive back to Jaco.
